Dog Training and Behaviour Seminar and Workshop Day - 30th April 09
Freddy is a very competent dog with a wide repetoire of behaviours and so is interesting to work with, whereas little Wyz is a new-to-it-all 5 month old puppy! We also had the lovely pleasure of using Bella, Brimington Equestrian Centre's own Collie X Whippet lurcher, and Amber, a terrier mix of some sort! Bella has learnt a cool new trick recently and takes every chance to show it off, much to Tracey, her owner's, amusement! Many thanks to Tracey for having us. We are now looking forward to running a similar day for the staff at the new Sheffield RSPCA in June - can't wait! |

RSPCA Sheffield Open Day - Sat 15th Nov 08
Animal lovers who volunteer for the RSPCA were invited to a sneak preview before the official opening on Monday 17th November. Liz and Dave trotted along for this exciting event and their excitement was justified! The new shelter is a huge change from the old Spring Street shelter. It's BIG. It's clean, modern, has an excercise area for dogs not allowed to leave the grounds, and promises to be an excellent, temporary, new home for the unwanted animals of Sheffield. Steve Byrne, the Centre manager, has great plans for ensuring quality care of the animals, including a training course for prospective dog walkers, and assessment of the dogs to gauge which homes might be the best possible match. As he says, he "..doesn't want to see them back again!"

Boney Fido Dog Training took Freddy back to where he was brought home from on Sunday 14th September! Strutting his stuff to entertain visitors at the Fun Day, Dave and Liz were on hand all day to talk about how to get a well-trained and happy dog. Thornberry were raising money for all the good work they do looking after and re-homing animals by holding a Fun Dog Show which you could enter and show off your furry friend!

Pedigree Dogs Exposed - 19th Aug 08
There are claims made by the programme that put the Kennel Club in a very poor light. If you haven't watched the programme, you can link to a synopsis via the following link: The Kennel Club has responded with several press releases. You can link to these responses below. |
Dave talks about Dangerous Dogs on BBC Radio Sheffield - 15th Aug 08
The Japanese Akita savaged the girl, who had been shut into a flat with the Akita by her 7 year old playmate. Her mother, Amanda Bannister, is calling for all dogs to wear a lead and muzzle when out in public. Thankfully the little girl survived and is now on the mend. Boney Fido wishes for all owners to behave responsibly with their dogs so that this sort of situation never arises, and the need to so severely restrict all dogs never becomes a reality. An aim of Boney Fido Dog training to educate owners about the right way and a nice way to own dogs. |
